Unique waterfront home designed by Sortun·Vos Architects, Seattle




Ship Canal Residence Seattle, Washington Sortun·Vos Architects was asked to remodel a substandard cabin, located in one of Seattle’s most unique waterfront communities, into a comfortable small home. As all the residences along this stretch of Seattle’s Ship Canal are non-conforming to current zoning laws, variances and Shoreline Management approval were required. Approval was granted to proceed with construction over the existing deck and piles, within the existing 20' x 36' footprint. The old structure was removed and a new house was built with no damage to the sensitive, over-water, steep shoreline site.
