Magnolia Garden Terraces
Seattle, WA
Doug Johnson
After successfully completing a major renovation to this lovely Magnolia Tudor several years ago, our clients again called on Tom Nychay to collaborate in designs for the back yard.
The steep terrain was divided into terraces that step down to the back street below. The focus will be an outdoor living room with a gentle, cascading waterfall and a simple fire element.
The outdoor room is defined by a curved ribbon wall of steel that winds between the concrete columns, and an overhead trellis--support for LED lights, and planted vines.
Custom design of gates, screens, tile, and concrete will exhibit Mediterranean and Moorish overtones.
At alley level, a brick wall and steel railing repeats detailing seen on the house above.
